Summer recess! What Summer recess??

Parliament have a Summer recess. (That will give us all a welcome break!!) At St Mary’s Centre we will be business as normal……Sort of? !?!
Yes, some of our activities take a break but behind the scenes we will be undergoing a number of improvement projects.
Work on the roof will be continued to carry out necessary repairs. Our trusty local builder David Johnson will make sure of that! (Oh, yes he will!)

Alongside the exterior work there will be a team of Heating engineers from Boiler Control Services. They are installing a new boiler and Radiators to give us independently operated systems in the Front Upper Hall areas. Offices/Mutual room/washrooms etc.

If that’s not enough why don’t we do some work on the Stage I hear you ask!!!

OK ………..In conjunction with the Operatic and Dramatic Society we are Upgrading the Stage lighting to give us a more Modern flexible lighting system.

The Committee are working hard to continue the improvement process to enable the Centre to be an even better environment for the various User Groups and visitors to our Community Centre.

Thanks to all who continue to use the Facilities and Support St Mary’s. With your support we can continue to maintain and improve the Hall.

Watch this space for further Developments.

Why I volunteer…

I love my role as a volunteer, not only do I help in the Church, I assist in the Centre with the Jack & Jill group but more recently I have helped behind the bar at one of the many fabulous shows held in the main hall. This has been very therapeutic for me because just recently my husband has passed away and I have found that not only do I feel that I am contributing to the Centre but I have found new friends and lots of support. There are so many different roles to help with and I hope that they will continue to seek my assistance.

Music Festival – we caught the spy!

The St Mary’s Centre was buzzing last Saturday night.  It’s thank you to Echo 42 for bringing us fresh, versatile and authentic 1940’s sounds of the big bands to the Ribble Valley Music Festival and making this another success, as confirmed by the strong feedback from a delighted audience. Your total production brought a true representation of the music of that era to compliment the wide range of music in the festival.  This event happened in our main hall, which is for hire.

Centre staff to attend blogging course

Staff and volunteers  from the St Mary’s Centre will soon be trained in the art of blogging, by Clitheroe based business leader and digital communities specialist Anna Morris.

New web site

The training follows the recent launch of the centre’s new website. The new mobile friendly and Open Source site means the Centre’s digital presence is as attractive and accessible as their meeting room, main hall and sports hall!
